Included in the course
TEE MasterClass
This exclusive teaching program will allow you to learn the art of transesophageal echocardiography, an important modality and a major component of everyday clinical practice. You will be enabled to image your patients after cardiovascular surgery, in the ICU and much more. Therefore, this course will cover a wide range of TEE indications, presented with simulations, demonstrations and cases.
Ideal for:
- Cardiologist
- Anaesthesiologists
- Intensivists
You will be trained to detect different pathologies and conditions with TEE, such as patent foramen ovale, intracardiac thrombi, vegetations, hypo-/hypervolemia, tumors and masses. Emphasis is placed on the assessment of valve pathologies (both native and prosthetic valves), fluid assessment and potential complications of cardiovascular surgery.
🫀 TEE Quiz: What can you see here?
New TEE case! This patient was known to have a cardiac mass. 🔍 Look at these two ultrasound loops – do you know which statement is wrong?

Rare but still destructive 🥴
This case involves a 67-year-old female with persistent fever post-cholecystitis and E. coli-positive blood cultures. The TTE findings already pointed towards endocarditis, but only with TEE a clear assessment was possible:
Answer the following quiz to the best of your knowledge! 🧠
How many distinct structural problems are visualized in this patient's mitral valve?
Chapters
Introduction to TEE
Introduction to TEE
Find out why transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is so important, which problems you can solve and where problems can arise.
Imaging
Here you will learn how to introduce the probe and how to find the standard views proposed by the international societies.
Source of Embolism
Looking for a potential source of embolism is a frequent indication for a TEE.
Atrial Shunts
You will need TEE to exclude a patent foramen ovale or an atrial septal defect (ASD) as a potential cause of paradox embolism.
Aorta
In this chapter we explain how to image the aorta and provide loads of examples and cases.
Endocarditis
TEE is mandatory in the setting of endocarditis. We collected hundreds of cases that will demonstrate how many “faces” endocarditis can have.
Mitral Regurgitation
When should you perform a TEE study in mitral regurgitation in the first place?
Valvular Heart Diseases
We threw all other valve pathologies such as mitral stenosis, aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation and tricuspid regurgitation into this chapter.
TEE on the ICU and after Cardiovascular surgery
If you work in a cardiovascular center or if you see patients following heart surgery you will need this chapter.
Tumors and Masses
Benign masses, cardiac malignancies and pseudotumors. These are the three topics that we will deal with in this chapter.
Monitoring of Interventions
TEE is increasingly used to monitor procedures in the Cath lab.
